Founded in 1999 by Gregory Gamble and Philippe van der Merwe, Tonic has produced a body of work spanning over two decades that is undeniably current, enduringly classic, and instantly liveable. As much as Tonic is driven to create work that is provocative and progressive, it is also guided by the principles and processes of craftmanship. The intersection of these two worlds – invention and tradition – is at the heart of everything they do.

Tonic believe's that finishing an object by hand adds integrity in a way that is impossible to emulate via mass production. Every piece they produce is individually-crafted by master South African artisans and often customised to individual requirements.

For Cape Town Furniture Week 2024, Tonic is launching their recently-opened Cape Town showroom, and presenting a selection of new and current furniture pieces.
